SOMETIMES PLANNING A WEDDING TOTALLY SUCKS. You thought that just because I’m a wedding planner, I’d tell you planning is always sunshine and rainbows? Guess again.

Real Talk

Planning my own wedding in 2012 was stressful and complicated. Not because I can’t handle planning — I come from a long line of resourceful women who know how to throw a good party, and I had planned events for work and volunteer groups — but because my husband and I wanted to do things differently.

The movies and magazines were telling us to have a certain type of wedding; Pinterest and offbeat wedding blogs were telling us to get married in another way. I was stuck forging my own path and I’ll be honest, y’all — it’s was tough. But customizing everything about our day is what made it so special — so us.

We got married on a Sunday afternoon, received the traditional seven Jewish wedding blessings, broke the glass, jumped the broom, and added in our own modern blessing for marriage equality. It was the non-traditional, interfaith, multicultural wedding of my dreams.

And that’s my wish for you, too: to have a day that’s perfectly you.

And unless you’re a pro wedding planner like me, you’re gonna need some help from someone who gets it. That’s why I started Dantus & Co. Events — to help Type A, career-focused, multicultural couples like you plan a wedding that honors what makes you different. I can’t wait to be celebrating your modern love with you soon.

Love + High Fives,
